Mystery vs. History

Which is better? I say mystery, when it comes to this example in How I Met Your Mother. Knowing something about someone, without really knowing them, gives you insight on someone which you may or may not want to know. Most importantly, knowing info can affect the way you behave around this person. In HIMYM, Ted Moseby goes up to this random girl at the bar, and states his theory about the internet, and how he thinks that two people should just go out on a date without having to search each other up. No background info. Kind of like how back then people would have blind dates. So then they have a mutual agreement to go on a date without searching each other up on the internet. However, during the date, Ted ends up breaking the agreement. He is shocked when he finds out that this girl is AMAZING and full of accomplishments. Suddenly, his entire view of her changes. In fact, he feels inferior to this woman, and his intimidation shows through. His date realizes that he looked her up. The date ends as she tells Ted that he’s just like the other guys who have dated her. Perhaps mystery would have been the better choice in this situation.
